Contents Protection Scheme – Terms & Conditions
- Nature of the Scheme
1.1. The Pink Storage Contents Protection Scheme is a discretionary, self-funded protection scheme operated by Pink Storage.
1.2. The Scheme is not an insurance policy and Pink Storage is not an insurer.
1.3. No part of the Scheme is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
1.4. Payments under the Scheme are made at the discretion of Pink Storage in accordance with these Terms.
- Requirement for Protection
2.1. All customers storing goods at Pink Storage facilities must have adequate protection in place for their stored goods.
2.2. Customers may either:
(a) Maintain their own suitable insurance; or
(b) Participate in the Pink Storage Contents Protection Scheme.
2.3. Where a customer relies on their own insurance, evidence may be requested.
- Declared Value
3.1. Customers must declare the full replacement value of their stored goods at the start of the agreement and whenever it changes.
3.2. Payments under the Scheme shall not exceed the declared value.
3.3. Under-declaration may result in reduced or refused payments.
3.4. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure the declared value is accurate.
- What the Scheme May Cover
Subject to these Terms, the Scheme may provide compensation for loss or damage caused by:
• Fire or explosion • Flood or water ingress • Theft following forced entry • Criminal damage or vandalism • Structural failure of the storage unit • Other incidents at Pink Storage's discretion
Cover applies only to goods stored within the allocated unit.
- Excluded Items
The Scheme does not cover:
• Cash, securities, or negotiable instruments • Jewellery, watches, or precious metals • Antiques, collectibles, or fine art • Documents or data storage devices • Perishable, hazardous, illegal, or flammable goods • Vehicles, machinery, or trailers • Items of purely sentimental value
- Customer Responsibilities
6.1. Customers must:
• Pack and protect goods appropriately • Use a suitable, secure lock • Follow site rules and safety guidance • Take reasonable care of stored goods • Notify Pink Storage promptly of incidents
6.2. Failure to comply may invalidate protection.
- Claims and Assessment
7.1. All claims must be submitted in writing within 14 days of discovery.
7.2. Customers must provide:
• Proof of ownership • Proof of value • Photographs where available • Crime reference number (if applicable) • Any other reasonable evidence requested
7.3. Pink Storage may conduct investigations and fraud checks.
7.4. Submission of a claim does not guarantee payment.
- Compensation Limits
8.1. Compensation is limited to the lower of:
(a) The declared value;
(b) The actual replacement cost;
(c) The maximum Scheme limit in force.
8.2. No compensation is payable for indirect or consequential loss.
- Settlement Method
9.1. Pink Storage may, at its discretion:
• Repair damaged items; • Replace items; • Provide equivalent items; • Make a cash payment.
9.2. Depreciation and wear and tear may be applied.
- Payment and Participation
10.1. Participation fees (if applicable) are payable weekly in advance together with the storage charges.
10.2. Fees will be collected by the same payment method used for storage rental.
10.3. Non-payment of any weekly fee may result in immediate suspension or termination of protection.
10.4. Protection will not apply during any period where payments are overdue.
- Suspension and Termination
11.1. Protection ends when:
• The agreement ends; • Goods are removed; • Accounts are overdue; • Terms are breached.
11.2. No cover applies after termination.
- Limitation of Liability
12.1. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pink Storage shall not be liable for loss or damage to goods except as provided under this Scheme.
12.2. Any liability is limited to compensation paid under the Scheme.
- Fraud and Misrepresentation
13.1. False or misleading information may result in:
• Claim rejection • Scheme termination • Loss of protection • Legal action
- Amendments
14.1. Pink Storage may amend or withdraw the Scheme at any time on reasonable notice.
- Governing Law
15.1. These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
