Whether you are looking for a fresh start or looking to upsize or downsize your home, moving home is something that nearly all of us experience, and it can be both physically draining and emotionally challenging.

Moving home is often described as one of life's most stressful events, and according to our recent survey, it may even be worse than divorce.

Moving home can be so intense that nearly 40% of Americans admit they've cried during a move and over a quarter say they would rather stay in a bad home than go through it again.

Whether it's the financial strain, or full-blown relationship meltdowns the experience clearly takes its toll.

To better understand just how emotionally and financially taxing moving really is, we surveyed 200 Americans from across the country.

More Stressful Than Divorce: 46% of Americans say moving is more stressful than getting divorced.

Tears on Moving Day: 39% of Americans have cried during a move.

Stuck in a Bad Home: 28% would rather stay in a home they hate than move again.

Top Regret: 1 in 3 people regret not hiring professional movers.

Moving Mayhem: 27% said they had a major argument with someone during their last move.

Methodology

This report reflects the results of a nationally representative online survey of 200 respondents.

After all responses were collected, we normalized the data by age, gender, and income so the sample would reflect U.S. demographics.
